Royal Signals Association Reunion
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The annual Reunion for RSA members is held over the last full weekend in June
at the home of the Royal Corps of Signals at Blandford Camp in Dorset. Typically around
1,000 members and guests usually attend the event. The weekends events usually include the Princess Royal Day Parade by the serving officers and soldiers of 11 Signal Regiment at 1030 hrs on Saturday and an arena display at 1500 hrs, which includes the Corps Band, the Corps TA Band and the Corps Pipes & Drums, the White Helmets Motor Cycle Display Team, the Corps Free Fall Parachute Display team and the Standard Bearers Competition. The Saturday afternoon concludes with a Retreat Ceremony. The RSM kindly opens the doors of his Mess to all retired ranks in the evening (dress; jacket & tie) and a (free) buffet is provided. The Sunday sees a Drumhead or Church Service at 1030 hrs, which is followed by a March Past, with the Master of Signals taking the Salute. The weekend ends at midday Sunday. Running in the background on the Saturday is a display of vintage and old communications vehicles and equipment, plus a small sample of todays equipment. The indoor range is also open, when members get a chance to fire the SA80, converted to laser. Members may apply to have their details put on the mailing list for full details of the Reunion, which are usually published in March. This gives members the opportunity to have their vehicle pass in advance (thus saving time at the gate) and to book meals. Members are encouraged to make use of the Regimental Restaurant (cookhouse to the old and bold), where are splendid choice of meals is available on a pre-paid basis. To be put on the mailing list, or for further enquiries, contact the RSA Admin Officer on 01258-482090 or by e-mail. Regrettably accommodation cannot be provided on Camp, but the Admin officer has a list of local B & B and hotels. Caravans and campervans are welcome (From Friday afternoon to Sunday only) and a good site is provided free of charge. Based in Reception is the list of members postings. Those who have
supplied details of their postings may ask for a printout of any unit and, should anyone
identify an old friend, the RSA can help re-establish contact. |
