Blandford Reunion 2005
A very busy Royal Signals reunion weekend.. Over 500 present.
From varying Signals units around the world at different years. Saturday was the Young
Soldiers pass out parade in the morning followed by various displays throughout the
afternoon, motor cycle white helmets, parachute display, bands, etc, plus displays around
the camp, including the Signals museum, (well worth a visit). All meals eaten in the
cookhouse with the present day soldiers (sorry, restaurant). On evenings Friday and
Saturday there was an invite back into the WO & Sgts Mess, such a long night
with plenty of company and very very cheap booze, closing time around 2am.
Sunday morning was a church parade and march past by the present soldiers and old farts
brigade, this finished off a very pleasant weekend. It was really nice to meet up
with so many friends again and this includes quite a few of the 4 Coy WRAC from Singapore
(Rose the missus was in 4 coy). And it was really nice after 40 years to meet up with
Terry Poingdestre from 208 Sigs as well.
So a lovely but very hectic and tiring weekend. Next year it is the first weekend in
July. Doug
