The Firths in Australia

Singapore was terrific the Hotel Alison was smashing, we did 2 coach trips touring the whole island and Sentosa and then had gin slings in Raffles of course, all in 3 days.

We had 7days in Perth, toured the city, theatre in St Georges Park, cruise to Fremantle did the tram tour there. Took a while to get Ernie tied down but it was worth it and we eventually met on a street corner in the middle of the City, as can be seen by the photo's there was a bar right there so we sat, had a few pints and swung the lamp. I found that Ernie had still had the same twinkle in his eye and the same character. It was nice to see him.

After Perth we had a 2 day train journey to Adelaide. It was a fantastic experience. Adelaide is a lovely place we were only there for 2 days but because of the jump on off free busses we saw the city and took a full day coach trip around the wine fields and of course lots of tasting.

We eventually met John and Carmel for lunch in a very nice club at Bannora Point not far from where we were staying, We had a really nice re-union with them although it was the first time we had met Carmel. John had put a bit of weight on but apart from that no change, same look same mannerisms, Carmel was a delight and we had a very enjoyable time with them.

To see Andy and Pauline we had to take a 6 hour train journey and a bus trip but it was worth it. They met us off the bus and we stayed with them for 2 days. In the evening we went to their RSL club for a meal and met some of their friends and the following day we went to Fraser Island for the full tour, one of the photo's was taken there Ann called it 3 wrecks together. After the trip we went back and had a nice evening in, swinging the lamp and comparing lives. It seems like he had a bit of a tough time of it after Malaya. Andy like the others, apart from a slight change in shape , very little change, Pauline was terrific and we enjoyed their company. We left the following morning and we stayed with Ann's brother for another week in Tweed Heads just over the border in N S W which is a paradise of a place.
