General Discussion / Re: Rather Urgent - Not Now!!

Afternoon All

I have decided to keep Shtum about my computer trouble because I dig my own grave most of the time.  I am thinking of going with my Microsoft account and change the email address slightly. I used to love Microsoft Outlook but that is long since gone, it was perfect for my needs.  I could the internet for something similar and that I might do.  At the moment I have my son here from Singapore but he us often too busy to attend to me needs - unless I absolutely insist.

Thanks to Martin and Lee for their help and patience. Someone has told me that spreadsheets are easy when you go on You tube but I am not so sure.  So Lee, maybe I might send my spreadsheet to you every few months if there is anything wrong.

I am closing my One.com account which I am about to do and hope that they may be able to export any emails over to me.

Support the website please and especially the Message Board,

Cheer

Pam McD  :)

Thanks for replying.  Poul will be a busy chap and I don't think he has time to bother with my problems.  I will just wait till a Eureka moment hits me, you never know!

I will keep in touch because that is what it is all about.

I have got myself in to a real pickle,  and it is entirely of my making.  I dig myself in deeper and deeper every time and I need help.  I will try to explain.

My sister gave me a ten year old iMac and eventually I have it up an nearly running.  But my downfall is due to passwords. I sorted out my Apple ID which is the same, obviously, as my iPad and iPhone.  No problem there then, but for some reason Apple want a password for my email address.  I don't know it. I should have used Gmail because I have no intention of having email on this apple computer.  It is just for me to play on in my old age and to keep my ageing brain sort of active.  I can't knit any more due to arthritis and I have no idea how to crochet so I keep going on my computers.

I asked Poul to give me a new password for my One.com webmail which I think he will have done to keep the old girl quiet.  What he didn't know was that I had already changed the password to something else.  When I went on to access my webmail I couldn't because my password was not accepted.

The chat facility on One.com obviously didn't understand what I was talking about and they gave me instructions to go on and change my password but I have to know the CORRECT password in order to actually go on to One.com.

I don't really know what anyone of you can do to help

I love to remember things, not the horrid boozy nights when Sam had to be carried in, absolutely unconcious.  Awful!

I miss Tony Ratcliffe, he remembered every thing that we did and conversations and who was goid and wh was not so good.  It was rare that he said anything wrong aboyt anyone but he hated a particular Aussie who the lads christened Legs Maguire.  He liked brown speckled eggs which I saved for times when he ended up at our place on Stevenson. The school kids like theor memories as well, what music was popular, dancing to Shades of Blue.

Anyway enough enough. Things is none of of my era are around on the board and they never were, they seemed reluctant to show thir faces.

See Yah

Pam

I am a member of a Facebook page run by the ex pupils of the schools in Terendak Camp.  It is a very busy group and I log in every day but never ever have any children of 208 members posted a single message.  I thought that some  of the 208 people may have died but their children are still around and I know several of them went to Slim School which was the senior school and also children od Mountbatten School which was the junior school.  I often join in and some of the kids remember Shades of Blue band.  It is strange though that children of 208 people don't bother.

I would like to thank Lee for his expertise and also Martin for his organisational skills in getting us back to where we used to be.  Would be super if everyone rallied round like they did with the old MB, that was a really busy one with some interesting topics.

Lee or Martin, I still can't fathom out how to get my avatar on here,  any ideas or Apps you know about.  Anybody?

We used to have people from different outfits joining in our riveting conversations, but most have deserted us. This one looks easy so I might join in if there are some good subjects.  I will try and think of some.

Bye for now

Pam

My avatar is there but I did nothing to get it there.  I must be thick as two short planks.  These things confuse me, I will never get it right.

Was there ever any nastiness from the indeginous population though?

This is a nice juicy topic.   Ten Pound Poms in the title of a new TV programme on Brit TV.  I am recording it but not sure thet I will ever watch it. My daughter tells me that the indigenous population was not very nice to the poms who were invited to come over to Oz by theAussie government.  It started me wondering how the Brits were treated by their Aussie counterparts and if there were many altercations?  I was given a clue when I was in Oz staying with John and Carmol Darling.  I can't remember this chaps name but his wife was called Camilla and he has since died.  I was livid that he was so rude about Brits openly to my face, but as we were in a shopping mall, I buttoned my lip.  >:(

With the other Message Board we had ages ago, I automaticlly went on there every day but now I have forgotten all about it.  I do go on Facebook every day and I am on a few facebooks different subjects - Marsden, Cats, Sewing but nothing interesting to others.  I miss the old one so much but maybe that would have gone the same way.  Ernie actually emailed to ask where I was and was still around.  So he is missing a bit of contact.  He is courting (old fashioned term) strong so I excuse him.  I emailed Alby Simpson the other day to find out if he was still breathing and he is OK.

I have builders in pointing the gable end and I have the Stones blaring trying to drown out the sound of the their drilling out old mortar.  Simon was recently home and he has really gone overboard with things.  New fridge/freezer for me, this pointing. new decking, new conservatiry blinds and so I don't have to get the ironing board out they have bought me a steamer.

Anyway that is my contribution to the MB, hope to goodness Lee and Margot ae OK.  I don't know how I manage to keep soldieing on!

They got rid of Boris and voted in a Maggie Thatcher mark 2 who has lifted the ban on bankers bonus andallowing the rich to earn more before they pay tax.  Ordinary folk are having a increase in their mortgage repayments.  MP's are up in arms because rhe know that Labour will have a landslide victory in 2024.  God Fofbid.  Think I might vote Green for the first time in my voting life.

Bye for now.

Pam
